I found this article when looking for resources on stopping coloring hair. I started going silver when I was 12 and started coloring my hair when I was 16. Over the past couple of years, my hair has gone crazy to the point that I needed to color it every 3 weeks because of the roots. This past fall, I stopped. Stress and anxiety was creating scalp problems and I decided to give my head a break. I haven’t colored my hair since October, but now I’m making the conscious decision that I am going natural. My hair is below shoulder length and wavy/frizzy. I am trying to figure out what haircut to get tomorrow that will let me grow out my gray nicely. I just hope I don’t breakdown around May and pick up a box of color.

Hi! I am 25 years old and a mother of three youngsters. I got my first gray hair when I was 17, plucked it out, noticed a couple over the next few years, but lately, I am getting THE most beautiful WHITE hairs popping up allover my head! And I am ecstatic! My mother had a streak of white alll the way down her long black hair and I always wanted that. I envy women with white hair, and I can’t waaaait to get going on this graying thing! I made a pct with a good friend that we would both stop plucking them out, so hopefully soon my collection of valuable silver will be very impressive! Thanks!

I love my silver hair. Don’t think of going gray as giving up. Think of it as a new beginning. It’s fun to reinvent your look. Check out the before and after pictures on my blog — coloring your hair doesn’t necessarily make you look better or younger. Go for it! And thanks GoingGrayBlog team for starting this website.

I ran across this blog while I was researching, of all things, how to color my gray. I started going noticeably gray about 12 years ago and have never colored it before (I’m now 38), but I’d been thinking recently of taking the plunge into hair dye. Well, I read this entire blog and looked at all the photos of beautiful silver- and gray- and white-haired women, and you’ve all convinced me to stay the course. Thanks.
