Those who hadn’t heard of her before last year may have had their first experience seeing her in her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the movie The Queen. She’s also been seen on PBS’s Masterpiece Theater as Detective Jane Tennyson in Prime Suspect.
Mirren has been a celebrated actor since the 1960’s in the UK, but American audiences (notoriously slow on the uptake) are just now starting to recognize her abilities. Her confidence in her craft, and her beauty which is arguably as compelling as that of starlets half her age, make her one of the celebrities we can’t get enough of!
