I started going gray at 30. It came from my father’s side, as Mom’s hair is STILL nearly all naturally black. I always felt that I should feel comfortable with being salt and pepper, and I did, but women were often telling me that I should dye it. I did give in a couple of times through the years, but always felt that I was looking at someone else in the mirror. It was only in the past three years since my divorce that I realized that I truly like my silver tresses, as they reflect who I am. It is a controversial subject, especially because I am dating. Many men love it, and others won’t give me a second look because they equate it with age. It amuses me that many of the men who won’t date a woman with hair like mine are very much gray themselves (not to mention pot-bellied)! Of course, they are entitled to their tastes, but in my book, this makes them narrow-minded and also suffering from middle-age insecurity!
